WALTER TULL ON TEACHERS TV
Just a quick post to share some exciting news that I have just heard from Teachers TV who want to make two films about the work I have been doing about Walter Tull. They should be coming to film at my school with my year 9s after half term and want to do one film in a lesson and one talking to the students about their experiences of learning about Walter Tull. Excellent news and hopefully will continue to get Walter the exposure that he deserves. I'll keep you updated as events progress.

Walter Tull deserves the exposure, I cannot believe that he isn't on the curriculum across schools in the country. I am 22 and my school's black history consisted of a day of fragmented information about slavery. I am happy to say that my curiosity led me to read up on my history on my own accord and I am shocked yet proud of what black people have managed to achieve especially Walter Tull. A lot of young black males are confused with their identity and are looking upto people such as 50 cent, and grime MCs; they need a positive role model to show them that black males are capable of achieving too and that they can do anything as long as they have the right mindset and attitude.

As a black guy with a Caribean background...It moves me to see that British history in the 1970s (when I was educated in a Comprehensive school in London) there were no men of colour who were shown to be heroic of any nature. In the books and in the comics..And it reminds me of how at the time any one taking part in the great war being black would of been treated as 2nd class persons by the Authorities...So even though he was more than a man to fit the job. He always had to prove himself and he did. On the football pitch and in the Army....
